APPLICATIONS

In order to keep the number of players from getting overwhelming for the mods, all applications are processed in a queue in the order submitted and characters are accepted as space becomes available (either as space in the game is increased or other characters are removed from the game). Acceptance into the queue does not guarantee entrance to the game; unless there are glaring errors in the application (such as a missing section) or moderator concerns, all applications go into the queue based on the time of reserve (if applicable) or submission.

There are two queues, one for newly arrived characters and one for those who are already residents of Hex. At the time of game opening, there will be twelve slots for new arrivals and twelve for current residents, discounting moderator characters. (Moderator characters apped in after game start will be a part of the queue.) The remaining four slots in the game will go to whichever fills up first.

Post your applications to this entry in the following format: First comment should contain the OOC information section only. Successive comments should be posted in reply to that comment, as many as you need. Moderator responses will be appended to the last comment of the application.

infinitemayonnaise: (Chimera outside)

Character abilities: Nitou's body is currently home to Chimera, a very old and very powerful monster. Chimera shares his power with Nitou in return for Nitou feeding him with mana or Helheim fruit, and if Nitou fails to feed Chimera, Chimera will eat Nitou. It's through a combination of Chimera's power and a magic ring that Nitou is able to transform into Kamen Rider Beast, and without his belt, he cannot absorb mana to feed Chimera. While other wizards can make use of Nitou's older-style rings, Nitou can't use theirs. (Nitou finds this to be hideously unfair.) This default form is lion-inspired, as Chimera is mostly lion-like. Like all Riders, he has a finishing move which, when used near the end of the fight, will destroy his enemy in a Rider Kick.

As Beast, he makes use of other rings to don Mantles, which give him a sculpted animal head pauldron on one shoulder and an accompanying cape. These Mantles grant him powers based on the other animals that make up Chimera:
- Dolphi: Dolphin themed, grants the ability to heal and to swim--even when there's no water. He'll just sort of splash through whatever. Burns mana quickly.
- Buffa: Buffalo themed, increased physical strength and endurance. Burns mana quickly.
- Chameleo: Chamelon themed, grants invisibility and whiplike tongue attack from the shoulder pauldron. Not as strong as some of the others, but not as much of a drain on mana, either.
- Falco: Falcon themed, grants flight.

He has a weapon, the Dice Saber, which allows him to use one of his rings to roll a six-sided die in the hilt of the weapon in order to pull off a finishing attack based on the corresponding animal. A six is a great success, a one is a dismal failure, and the rest are somewhere in between.

Nitou also has access to yet another ring and a weapon, the Mirage Magnum, that allows him to take Beast Hyper Form. This increases his power yet again and also gives him the ability to use two Mantles at once should he choose.

Nitou can also summon a Plamonster, a small animal familiar, with the assistance of another ring. The Plamonster looks very toylike and cannot talk, but Nitou seems to understand it. His Plamonster is a griffin.

Samples: I actually have a Changeling AU thread for him here from some messing around in a musebox a while back, and I have a previous game thread for him here.

AU nature: Changeling--specifically, a Beast. He's a Chimera.

AU history: Nitou came from a wealthy family. Though he was raise dby his parents, his grandmother, the matriarch of the family, constantly wanted the rambunctious boy to settle down and focus on his studies. Nitou wouldn't unless the studies interested him--he liked history, but not much else, and he preferred to do hands-on exploring and studying versus reading about it in musty old books. He was a bit of a troublemaker, and when he left for college, there was a bit of friction between him and his grandmother.

Nitou was off at college studying archaeology when he got snatched away to Faerie by a great Chimera and made to feed and serve the beast lest he get eaten instead. He became a chimera himself as a result, and eventually fought his way out of Faerie and back across the thorns. Upon his return, he realized that his Fetch had supplanted him as the dutiful grandson he thought his grandma had always wanted, and so he told himself he wouldn't interfere with that. Just as he tended to with dangerous situations, he tried to snatch opportunity from a bad one, and he used this to take the chance to go out and do his own thing without worrying anyone else. He'd had a hell of an adventure, even if it was kind of awful, in the Hedge, time to have one back in the human world.

He gravitated towards the Spring Court, because no matter what was going on in his personal life, he didn't like to dwell on the negative. Better to look on the bright side of things and live rather than mope or get angry or live in the shadow of fear. He returned with a dietary hiccup in the form of Arcadian Metabolism--unlike most Changelings, he absolutely needs to eat goblin fruit at least once a week, or else his body would start to shut down. He prefers to eat it as often as he can to be on the safe side, and he's developed a taste for it that probably isn't healthy.

This makes him keep close ties to the Court and entrances to the Hedge, where he can quickly get his fix of goblin fruit. He has a knack for knowing exactly where the Goblin Markets were set up, and that combined with his wanderlust leads him to roam both the Hedge and the city, searching for his next meal and next great adventure. He has a rivalry with a certain Draconic Fairest he encountered on these adventures--at least, he thinks it was a rivalry. The other Changeling views Nitou as more of a hungry nuisance than anything else.

Instead of using magic rings to fight, Nitou makes efficient use of his chimerical form and contracts. In his default state, he's naturally got sharper senses and is faster and stronger than a human would be--plus, he's got claws. When trouble really starts to break loose, he'll transform into a quadruped chimera--a lion with the horns of a buffalo, one scaly chameleon-like rear leg, one feathery falcon-like rear leg, and the tail of a dolphin.

If he chooses, he can choose to amplify aspects of one of the creatures that make up his component parts, thus drawing on its abilities. For example, if he goes for the falcon, he'll end up with a beak, wings, talons, and more feathers. The buffalo gets him larger horns, the hooves and legs, and a thicker skull. The dolphin makes him essentially a merlion with a dolphin's tail and grants him the ability to swim and hold his breath for long periods of time. The chameleon covers most of his body in scales, gives him a whiplike tongue and chameleon's tail, and allows him to change color in order to better blend in with his surroundings. Too many transformations over too short a time, or remaining transformed for too long, is a huge Glamour drain and will leave him hungrier for goblin fruit than he already is.

While he can no longer summon his griffin plamonster, he has a way with animals, particularly falcons and cats, since they're closely related to some of his component parts. He can often find one that's willing to help him out, should he need some assistance in spying. He's also eccentric enough to go to the zoo and strike up conversations with some of the animals, though he isn't good at being subtle about it.

Justification: Rather than being possessed by a supernatural chimera that might eat him at any moment if he didn't feed it, here, Nitou is a Changeling whose Durance was carried out in the service of a chimera that repeatedly threatened to eat him at any moment if he didn't feed it. Instead of borrowing Chimera's power as he does in canon, it's just rubbed off on him and made him a chimera all on his own. And while I realize I could have done a pretty much straight 1-to-1 version of his canon powers using Tokens, I decided to go a little nuts with Changeling magic to adapt his powers in order to make any power or memory regains more interesting.
